1. Information We Collect
AbaWeather is designed to provide weather information without advertising, behavioral profiling, or cross-app tracking. The app does not require you to create an account.
Location information. If you grant location permission, AbaWeather uses your device location to determine the area for which weather information should be displayed. You may also search for another location instead of using your current location.
Coordinates needed to retrieve weather information may be sent to the AbaWeather backend and weather providers. For current-weather requests, location coordinates are rounded into geographic areas and used as keys for temporary cloud-hosted cache entries. Device-location weather data is considered fresh for up to 5 minutes, while searched-location data is considered fresh for up to 20 minutes. AbaWeather does not create or maintain a user-specific location history.
AbaCast data. To generate a cloud-based AbaCast summary, the app sends a weather snapshot to the AbaWeather backend. That snapshot can include a general place name, current weather conditions, and short-term forecast information. Raw device GPS coordinates are not included in the AbaCast prompt sent to OpenAI.
Local app data. AbaWeather may store limited preferences, cached weather information, or app state locally on your device as necessary for normal operation.
AbaWeather does not include third-party advertising SDKs, behavioral analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking technologies.
2. How We Use That Information
Information processed by AbaWeather is used only as needed to provide and operate the app. This includes:
- Determining which location's weather information to display.
- Retrieving current conditions, forecasts, weather alerts, radar imagery, maps, and location-search results.
- Generating AbaCast's short plain-language weather summaries.
- Temporarily caching weather requests to improve performance, reduce unnecessary third-party requests, and keep weather information reasonably current.
- Maintaining normal app functionality, reliability, and security.
Information is not used to create advertising profiles, deliver targeted advertising, or track you across apps or websites.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
AbaWeather relies on third-party services to provide weather, mapping, cloud infrastructure, and text-generation functionality. Information may be processed by these services only as needed to provide their respective functions.
Tomorrow.io is used for current weather conditions.
U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) services provide forecast data, weather alerts, radar imagery, and fallback weather observations when needed.
Mapbox provides mapping services used to display the radar map and geographic context. Map requests may include the geographic area being viewed and technical request information needed to deliver map content. Mapbox processes this information under its own privacy practices and terms.
OpenAI is used to generate cloud-based AbaCast summaries from weather snapshots supplied by the AbaWeather backend. Raw device GPS coordinates are not included in the AbaCast prompt sent to OpenAI.
Cloud-hosted infrastructure providers may process request and operational data as necessary to operate the AbaWeather backend, protect service credentials, cache weather requests, and process AbaCast requests.
These third-party services are governed by their own privacy practices and terms. AbaWeather does not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
4. Data Security
AbaWeather uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information processed by the application and its supporting services. Communications between the app, the AbaWeather backend, and third-party services use HTTPS to encrypt data in transit.
Weather data processed by the AbaWeather backend is cached only temporarily, and AbaWeather does not maintain user accounts or a persistent database of individual users or their location history.
Access to the systems supporting AbaWeather is restricted to the developer and authorized service providers as necessary to operate the application.
5. Your User Rights
You control whether AbaWeather may access your device location. You can deny or revoke location access at any time through iOS or iPadOS Settings. If location access is unavailable, you may still use location search to view weather for a place you select.
Because AbaWeather does not require user accounts and does not maintain a user-specific location history or advertising profile, the developer generally does not maintain a central user profile for you to access, correct, or delete.

6. Changes To This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if AbaWeather's features, service providers, or data practices change. When material changes are made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
